Introduction to Pottery - Wednesday

Wednesdays Nov 7th - Dec 5th,  1pm - 4pm. Instruction will include students’ skills in the areas of general properties of clay, hand building, throwing on the wheel and glazing.  The objective is not make pieces to take home, rather allowing you get your hands dirty and feeling what it's like! Pottery is a very physical and hands on art form that many have yet to fall in love with. (prerequisite for Adult Pottery and ceramics open studio)

OSU Symphonic Band Concert

A Very Merry Mascot Party

The OSU Alumni Association and Pistol Pete's Partners invite registered legacies and their families to A Very Merry Mascot Party with our favorite mascot, Pistol Pete!

Celebrate the holiday season on Tuesday, November 27 from 5 to 6:45 p.m. at the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center. Activities will include:


  • Winter-themed photo shoot with Pistol Pete perfect for your holiday cards
  • Indoor inflatables
  • A holiday movie with cookies and hot chocolate
  • Letters to Pistol Pete

Registered legacies and/or members of Pistol Pete's Partners will also receive a custom OSU ornament as a gift (while supplies last).

This event is free, but attendance is reserved for registered legacies and their families as well as members of Pistol Pete's Partners. Registered legacies are children and grandchildren of OSU Alumni Association members. Nonmembers may join online before or at the event.

We will also be collecting winter wear to donate for Orange and Black Gives Back. Feel free to bring new or gently-used coats, hats, scarves and gloves to donate.

Art Academy Tuesdays

This after school art class is designed for students to develop his or her artistic aptitude. Throughout the course, students will build a foundation of drawing skills and art history knowledge, as well as be exposed to many new mediums in both the 2D and 3D arts. Open to all skill levels, this art class is intended for long term growth in the visual arts. Students will receive expert hands-on art instruction, develop critical thinking skills and have lots of fun!







Instructor's name

Liz Dueck is a teaching artist who works primarily in landscape oil painting and ceramic sculpture. She received her BFA from Oklahoma State University as well as a minor in Art History and a K-12th Teaching Certification for Art. Dueck has exhibited her work at various galleries in the OSU campus, as well as in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. Last year she had taught art in Costa Rica and now is very excited to work with the community of Stillwater as the new Art Education Coordinator of the Prairie Arts Center.

Pottery with Ron Jones - Tuesdays

Tuesday's October 2nd - Nov 27th. 6pm - 9pm. Instruction will introduce basic to advanced wheel-throwing techniques. Beginners will start with centering the clay and throwing cylinders and bowls. Returning students will continue to refine their personal style, learn advanced techniques and focus on individual projects. Glaze application and decoration will be explored as a group. We hope you come and join this creative ceramic community!

*There will be no class on November 20th.



Instructor's name

Ron Jones is a longtime artist and former employee of the City of Stillwater, as well as a graduate of Oklahoma State University. His work focuses on the organic fingerprint of the potter, which continues to influence and inspire his students as a current instructor at the Prairie Arts Center.

There are 168 hours in each week. How do we find time for what matters most? Time management expert Laura Vanderkam studies how busy people spend their lives, and she's discovered that many of us drastically overestimate our commitments each week, while underestimating the time we have to ourselves. She offers a few practical strategies to help find more time for what matters to us, so we can "build the lives we want in the time we've got.

Ted Talk Tuesdays consist of 15 minutes of viewing and 15 minutes of discussion.
