Textbook Buybacks

Thu, 2017-12-07 08:00
Thursday, December 7, 2017, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

When selling your books back, it pays to do your research. On average, the University Store collectively pays more for OSU students' textbooks than any other local or national book retailer. Last year, the University Store gave OSU students almost $1 million during buybacks. We know you have a lot of choices when selling your textbooks. We only hope you will make the choice to sell them back to the one store that gives you more - in more ways than one!

OSU Leadership Development Certificate Series - Enhancing Employee Motivation through Coaching

Tue, 2017-11-28 13:00
Hosted by Chesapeake Energy
6100 N. Western Ave., Oklahoma City, OK
Tuesday, November 28, 2017, 1 – 4 p.m.

High-performance teams don’t just happen. They are carefully built and well managed, and this is not always a smooth process. A key to strong, performance-oriented, teams is building strong interpersonal relationships prior to the formation of teams. This seminar covers issues across the life span of teams, from deciding when to use them, to understanding their stages of development, to moving them toward high performance. Special attention will be given to the various challenges teams face in moving toward high performance (conflict, turning individuals into team players, motivation problems, team decision-making problems, etc.) and ways that teams can successfully navigate these obstacles. Both management and team members share responsibility for moving a team toward high- performance, and we will focus on both of these roles throughout the seminar. In addition to material delivery, we will make use of experiential exercises to demonstrate important team principles.  MORE INFORMATION

Hot Club San Francisco

Fri, 2017-11-17 20:00
Friday, November 17, 2017, 8 – 10 p.m.

Imagine yourself in the idyllic French countryside in the 1930's. Sometime before dark, a gypsy caravan sets up camp in a field outside of town, luring the locals out for an evening’s fun. The wanderers travel with a film projector, pointing it at the side of a barn. As the images flicker to life beneath the stars, gypsy musicians play their guitars and fiddles, matching every movement on the screen with characteristic virtuosity, passion and humor. Reviving this lost entertainment, The Hot Club of San Francisco presents Cinema Vivant, an evening of vintage silent films accompanied by live gypsy swing.

Before World War I, European filmmaker Ladislaw Starewicz pioneered stop-action animation, creating a never-before-seen movie experience. A gifted storyteller who used the new medium of animation to illuminate his fantastic imaginings of the secret lives of ordinary objects, Starewicz has become an obscure cult hero. Two Starewicz films are featured in Cinema Vivant—The Cameraman's Revenge, a charming piece about the marital troubles of beetles and The Mascot, an adventure story about lost toys. On the other side of the Atlantic, American Charley Bowers revolutionized the industry in the 1920’s by combining animation with live action. There It Is, a recently rediscovered film by Bowers, is a whimsical comedy about a mysterious occurrence investigated by Scotland Yard.

Travel back in time to enjoy a Cinema Vivant on Friday November 17, at the Seretean Concert Hall at 8 p.m. Tickets available August 1 at tickets.okstate.edu
