PROJECT Trio

We are a student organization within the Natural Resource Ecology and Management Department focused on the sustainable management of rangelands.

Our mission is to promote the proper management of rangelands from an environmentally sound, economically viable, and socially acceptable manner. This includes proper stocking rates, proper forage utilization, biodiversity, the control of invasive species, and proper brush control.

Spring Break Dog Sledding

What could be better than cuddling up with a furry friend during a winter night? Join us for our Spring Break Dog Sledding trip that will give you the
opportunity to spend your break with these adorable furry friends in the small county of Gunnison, Colorado. Participants will work hands-on with these dogs while experiencing the well-known beauty of the mountains.

About the Area:
Gunnison County if the fifth-most extensive county in Colorado. The beautiful county of Gunnison is well known for the endless aspen groves and mountains sought for an abundance of activities. The small town of Crested Butte is located in Gunnison County and is known as the “official
wildflower capital of Colorado."

Expected Weather (for this time of year):
March in Gunnison County can be a bit chilly, but that does not hinder the wonderful experience of these winter activities. Expected temps in the lower 40 F for the high and 20 F for the low. Following the cool temps is a lot of snow.

The Gear:
Outdoor Adventure will provide any camping and cooking gear that may be used during this trip. Participants should bring proper clothing for cold
weather. Outdoor Adventure will also provide transportation to and from each location. Participants should also pack personal gear such as hygiene products, medications, and money for meals that may be grabbed on the road. Patrons may bring their own gear such as sleeping pads, sleeping bags, tents, and headlamps, but Outdoor Adventure is able to provide these items for patrons as well.

Spring Break Utah Nat'l Park Tour

The landscapes of Utah have been seen in many magazines and films as the scenery is beautiful and unique. Utah is also well known for some of the top national parks in the U.S. bringing in people from across the country to enjoy the vast lands and arches. There are five main national parks in Utah that will be great for hiking and camping. Participants will get to tour these national parks and make memories by connecting with people and nature.

About the Area:
Utah is known for its vast landscape of desert and mountains. This landscape of Utah is surrounding the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Each of the national parks have their own beauty. These national parks include Arches, Canyonlands, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, and Zion. These parks have been featured in National Geographic and Planet Earth documentaries. From mountain biking, skiing, and hiking, Utah is one of the most beautiful and active states in America. Expected Weather (for this weather for this time of
year): March in Utah can be a little chilly. The Highs will be in the upper 40F and in the upper 30F as the lows. It does snow quite often in Utah, so an average of three feet can be expected.

The Gear:
Transportation, meals during the trip, and all group camping and boating gear (tents, stoves, boats, PFDs, and paddles) will be provided by Outdoor Adventure. Participants are responsible for meals on the road and personal gear (clothing, proper footwear, and sleeping gear). Participants should
bring proper clothing for cold weather. Outdoor Adventure is able to provide backpacks, sleeping bags, and sleeping pads for participants that don't have their own.

Weights 101
