Certificate for Emerging Leaders in Manufacturing - Empowering Employees to take Ownership

Wed, 2017-10-11 09:00
OSU-Tulsa
Wednesday, October 11, 2017, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Presenter: Toby Joplin, Ph.D.

Too often employees have entirely different goals than the owners or even management of the companies for which they work. For example, a customer picks up his dry cleaning from the laundry and asks the employee, how her day was going. The employee replies, “Great! It’s been really slow!” One wonders if the owners would think that their business being “really slow” was so great. When employees and managers/owners have goals that are too far apart, it can lead to stress and conflict on the parts of both the employees and management. When management/owners and employees are pulling in different directions, it results in less than optimal results for the organization and lower employee satisfaction. This is a common but solvable problem for managers.
