Tuesday, October 1, 2019, 1 – 2 p.m.

Do you have what it takes to climb the equivalent of El Capitan, the mecca of big-wall climbing? Test your climbing abilities during the month of October, and try to complete Outdoor Adventure's El Capitan Challenge!

Standing abroad in the Yosemite Valley of California is a 3,593ft granite formation popularly and appropriately known as El Capitan or “the captain”.  This is one of the most well-known climbing structures in all the world and its route, Freerider, has become increasingly popular with Alex Honnold's Free Solo ascent. Climbers who wish to take on the El Capitan Challenge will have the month of October to climb the equivalent of the 3,300ft ascent or 140 pitches at the Colvin Climbing Wall

To take on the challenge, sign up at Outdoor Adventure the next time you come to climb!

To participate, climbers must be belay certified and have a current membership. For more details, visit our website or give us a call! wellness.okstate.edu/outdoor-adventure; (405)744-5581

Cimarron National Works on Paper

Tue, 2019-10-01 08:00
Tuesday, October 1, 2019, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

September 9 - October 10

Reception Thursday, September 12, 5-6p

Juror’s talk Thursday, September 12, 6-7p

With nationally prominent jurors and a purchase prize, the introduction of the Cimarron National Works on Paper Invitational competition and exhibition in 1987 cemented OSU’s commitment to innovation. The Cimarron National was put on hiatus in 1995; during the development of the OSU Museum of Art, discussions resumed about its revival. More recently, donors have generously supported that effort, which has been taken up by the Department of Art, Graphic Design, and Art History. The Cimarron National has always interpreted its mandate loosely, including photography, drawing, printmaking, and paper-based relief sculpture in past exhibitions.

Healthy Heart, Healthy You

Tue, 2019-10-01 05:30
Tuesday, October 1, 2019, 5:30 – 6:30 a.m.

Healthy Heart, Healthy You is a 4-week course designed to help participants take charge of their cardiovascular health. During this class, we will examine the risk factors and symptoms of a heart attack and stroke. Since the first step towards prevention is knowledge, your individual cardiovascular disease risk factors will be assessed through a Health Risk Assessment (HRA), which includes lipid profile, fasting glucose, blood pressure and body mass index measurements. Together we will learn how to modify your risk factors through a heart-healthy lifestyle.

The course will finish with a CPR and AED training and certification.

Program is 4-weeks on Tuesday's (5:30pm): October 1, 8, 15, & 22.

To register, call 405-744-WELL (9355) or email wellness@okstate.edu. Program is for benefits-eligible employees & OSU retirees.
