Room Occupancy Checklist (ROC)
The Room Occupancy Checklist (ROC) allows you to document the condition of your room or space at move-in. This checklist is essential for noting any pre-existing damages and helps protect you from being charged for them later. At checkout, a resident assistant (RA) will compare the room's current condition with the details you submitted on the ROC at move-in.
Why ROCs are important
- Failure to complete and submit your ROC during the move-in process means that you accept the room's conditions as documented in the ROC.
- You will be held responsible for any damages identified during the checkout inspection and may be charged accordingly.
- Later, if you submit a dispute damages form, your ROC will be used to compare the room’s condition at move-in and move-out to determine responsibility for any damages.
Visit Financial Responsibility for more about fees and charges.
How to complete and submit a ROC
- Start your ROC before moving any belongings into your room.
- ROCs must be submitted within 48 hours of moving in.
-
Step 1. Log in to the OSU Housing Portal
- Log in to the OSU Housing Portal. You can do this by clicking on Student Login and entering your OSU email address and password.
-
Step 2. Open your ROC
- Once signed in, you’ll land on OSU Housing Portal's homepage. Located on the orange navigation bar, click to open the Room Occupancy Checklist (ROC) tab.
- If you don’t see the ROC tab there, try clicking the Menu icon for a dropdown list. If you still don't see a link to the ROC, contact your resident assistant (RA).
-
Step 3. Verify your information
- Make sure the date and your room number are listed correctly. If something doesn’t look right, contact your resident assistant (RA).
-
Step 4. Enter your room conditions
For each item on your ROC, you must do one of two things:
- Click Accept if you agree with the ROC and the condition of the item.
- Click Leave a Comment if you disagree with the condition as listed, and then describe what you see. Don’t click Accept if you’re leaving a comment. Just add the comment and move to the next item.
-
Step 5. Submit your ROC
- Once you have either accepted or left a comment for every item in your ROC, click Submit ROC at the bottom of the page. Now you are ready to move your property into your room. Go Pokes!
