Move-In Reminder:

Plan for the Heat

We’re excited to welcome you to Oklahoma State University for move-in.

August weather in Oklahoma can be hot, and moving into a residence hall can mean spending more time outdoors than usual. A little planning can help you and your family stay safe and comfortable throughout the day.

Before and during move-in

  • Drink plenty of water before, during and after move-in.
  • Take regular breaks in air-conditioned or shaded areas.
  • Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and comfortable shoes.
  • Use sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses when you’re outdoors.
  • Pace yourself when lifting and carrying items.
  • Check on family members, friends and anyone helping with your move.

Know the signs of heat illness

Watch for dizziness, headache, nausea, muscle cramps, heavy sweating or confusion. If you or someone with you begins feeling ill, move to a cooler location and drink water if they are able.

If symptoms are severe or do not improve, seek medical attention. For emergencies, call 911.

Make heat safety part of your move-in plan by bringing water, planning breaks and giving yourself plenty of time to settle in.

We look forward to welcoming you home, Cowboys.
