Thank you for living in university housing, but we understand it's time for you to move on. Housing offers two ways to checkout out of the halls. Explore the details below and choose the option that best fits your needs for moving out of the halls.

End of semester move-out times:

Move-out must be completed 24-hours after your last final.

All residents must be moved out by Saturday at 10 a.m.

Graduating seniors have until Sunday at 10 a.m. to move out.

Express Checkout
Checkout at your convenience without scheduling a time with your RA. Please note, this option is not available to residents with animals.
- Step 1: Pick up an Express Checkout Key Envelope
- Available at any Desk Service location.
- Step 2: Prepare Room to Checkout
- Remove all personal items from the room. The only thing that should be in the room at checkout is university-issued furniture.
- Check dresser and desk drawers to make sure you have everything .
- Clean the room.
- Clean all surfaces—including desk/dresser, bookshelf and inside drawers–of dirt,
grime and gunk. - Clean windows and mirrors.
- Remove contact paper from counter and bulletin boards.
- Remove tape residue from furniture, walls and windows.
- Leave peel-and-stick adhesive hooks (such as Command™ Brand) in place. These will be removed by facilities management. Removal can cause damage to the walls that will result in damage charges.
- Sweep, mop and/or vacuum floors.
- Place dirt, debris and trash in dumpsters, not in the hallway.
- To empty the water from fish tanks and/or turtle tanks down the drain, use strainer to catch rocks. Run cold water for two minutes afterward.
- Clean all surfaces—including desk/dresser, bookshelf and inside drawers–of dirt,
- University-owned furniture.
- Beds must be assembled and secured.
- Move furniture back to its move-in configuration.
- Closet doors are installed.
- Dumpsters and trash removal
- Dumpsters are the big blue containers (22 feet long) are for trash.
- Do not block the front of the dumpster.
- Do not stack trash up against the side of the dumpster.
- If the dumpster is full, take trash to the next closest dumpster.
- Be sure to complete the Forward Mail Request (form) in Roompact.
- Step 3: Using the Express Checkout Key Envelope

Follow all instructions and fill in your information on this envelope.

Be sure to lock your door(s) when you leave.

- Step 4: Return the Express Checkout Envelope
- Place your keys inside, seal it, and drop it off at your hall’s Desk Service or Village A if your desk is closed.
- Mailed or shipped keys will not be accepted.
- For mid-semester lease-breaks, you will be continued to be charged rent until your keys are returned.
In-Person Checkout
Checking out with a resident assistant (RA) face-to-face lets you review any potential damage charges and discuss concerns before leaving campus.
If you have an animal in your space, you must use this checkout option.

Step 1: Schedule Checkout Meeting with RA
- Checkouts can only be scheduled when Desk Services are open.
- Schedule your checkout appointment with your resident assistant (RA) at least 24 hours in advance of your move-out.
- If your RA is not available at your desired checkout time, they can refer you to another RA or you can schedule a different time .
- If you cannot make your appointment, let the RA know as soon as possible. Missing your scheduled checkout will result in an improper checkout violation.

- Follow the instructions for the Checkout Meeting.
- Step 4: Return keys to the appropriate Desk Service locations.

- Lost keys will result in replacement charges.
- Mailed or shipped keys will not be accepted.
