Housing Registration
Housing and Residential Life and Fraternity and Sorority Affairs works closely to support students transitioning between university housing and Greek Life residences. This page highlights key dates, important policies, and useful information for students:

- Freshman noncompliance fee
- Lease-break fee
- Short-term stay fee
- Late cancellation fee
- Improper check-in and checkout fees
- Charges for damages

Fall 2026

Fraternities: Breaking OSU Lease
- (Aug. 15–Aug. 24, 2026, before 5 p.m.) First-year students who have completed a Interfraternity Council (IFC) Bid Card may be released from their housing contract without a lease break fee if they move out by 5 p.m. Aug. 24, 2026.
- (Aug. 24, 2026, after 5 p.m.) First-year students who move to Greek Life after 5 p.m. Aug. 24, 2026, will be charged a lease break fee equal to two months of their assigned room rate.
Upper-class students who break their OSU housing lease will be charged a single payment equal to their housing rate for two months and forfeit their registration fee refund.

Sororities: Breaking OSU Housing Lease
- (Aug. 15–Aug. 24, 2026, before 5 p.m.) First-year students who have completed a Sorority Housing Transfer Permit may be released from their housing contract without a lease break fee if they move out by 5 p.m. Aug. 24, 2026.
- (Aug. 24, 2026, after 5 p.m.) First-year students who move to Greek Life after 5 p.m. Aug. 24, 2026, will be charged a lease break fee equal to two months of their assigned room rate.
Spring 2027

Fraternities: Breaking OSU Housing Lease
First-year students in their first year who have completed their fraternity transfer form and bid card will be charged the following for breaking their housing lease:
- (Dec. 1–13, 2026, before 5 p.m.) Residents moving to Greek Life will be charged a $250 cancellation fee.
- (Dec. 13, 2026, after 5 p.m.) First-year students who move to Greek Life after 5 p.m. Dec. 13, 2027, will be charged a lease break fee equal to two months of their assigned room rate.

Sororities: Breaking OSU Housing Lease
First-year students in their first year who have completed their sorority transfer form and bid card will be charged the following for breaking their housing lease:
- (Dec. 1–13, 2026, before 5 p.m.) Residents moving to Greek Life will be charged a $250 cancellation fee.
- (Dec. 13, 2026, after 5 p.m.) First-year students who move to Greek Life after 5 p.m. Dec. 13, 2027, will be charged a lease break fee equal to two months of their assigned room rate.
- (Jan. 25—29, 2027, before 5 p.m.) Residents moving to Greek Life will be charged a $250 cancellation fee.
- (Jan. 29, 2027, after 5 p.m.) First-year students who move to Greek Life after 5 p.m. Jan. 29, 2027, will be charged a lease break fee equal to two months of their assigned room rate.

Steps for moving into residence halls
- Submit the Interfraternity Council New Member Drop/Release Form
- Attend a required meeting with the Occupancy Team to coordinate returning to OSU Housing. After which, a room assignment will be made.

Meal Plans
- Bronze is the minimum required meal plan for freshmen living on campus.

Parking and Transportation
- When living on campus, residents must have parking passes for vehicles. Visit OSU Parking and Transportation Services to purchase passes.
» Leaving Greek Life for Nonuniversity Accommodations

Freshman Residency Requirement and the Freshman Noncompliance Fee may apply
- All freshmen who are unmarried, without dependents, and under the age of 21 are required to reside in university housing during the academic year.
- To live somewhere other than OSU housing, freshmen must be granted a housing exemption, or they will be charged the equivalent of the housing rate for the least expensive housing option for two semesters (fall and spring).
- For 2026-2027, the freshman noncompliance fee is $2,767 for the fall semester plus $2,767 for the spring semester for a total of $5,534.
