Housing Registration Season Underway

OSU Housing and Residential Life is rolling out the welcome mat for students to register housing for the 2024-2025 academic year.
“Registration season is an exciting time for all of us in housing,” said Dr. Leon McClinton, Jr., director of housing and residential life. “Every year, we look at the OSU Housing Portal to see if we can streamline the process and make sure it’s easy to use.” The OSU Housing Portal is where OSU students, in addition to selecting their rooms, they can sign their lease, purchase meal plans, find roommates and much more.
New to the portal this year are roommate groups that are limited to two residents and there is now a waitlist tab.
About the Waitlist
During housing registration, residents are encouraged to select a room. However, if they can’t find a desired room, they can join up to three waitlists for the different housing options. Assignments team will make room assignments based on waitlist preferences and room availability. Housing options for undergraduates include traditional halls, suites, deluxe suites and apartments.
Registration Dates
The OSU Housing Portal opens registration for the 2024-2025 academic year.
- Spring only registration. Beginning Friday, December 1 at 10 a.m., registration for students who need to live onto campus for the spring semester only.
- Guaranteed housing for current residents. Current residents are guaranteed housing by completing registration and room selection between Tuesday, January 16 at 10 a.m. and Tuesday, January 30 at 11:59 p.m. Students who need on-campus housing for scholarships and so forth are encouraged complete housing registration during this time.
- Week 1 (Jan. 16-21): To keep your current room, register for housing and select your room between Tuesday, January 16 and Sunday, January 21. Exception are residents who live in first-year only halls (Peterson-Friend, Bost and Davis). You will need to select another hall for the next academic year.
- Week 2 (Jan. 22-30): Current residents may register and select rooms.
- Guaranteed housing for first-year (freshmen) students. Registration opens Thursday, February 1, 2024, with first-year (freshmen) students guaranteed housing.
- All other undergraduates. Other undergraduates needing on-campus room may complete registration beginning Thursday, February 1, 2024, with room assignments based on availability.
To make accessing housing information easier for parents and guardians, the Housing and Residential Life’s website now features key information from the OSU Housing Portal.

“We know you have questions, and we are here to help,” McClinton said. Due to the high number of phone calls and emails received during registration season, we recommend people first visit ResLife.okstate.edu where most answers can be found and use the powerful “Search” function to find topics. If directed to voice mail, leave a message and a phone number. Callbacks are made during business hours and may take up to 24 to 48 hours for a reply.
Once students have secured their housing assignments, they may review the Move-In Overview page for information about everything from planning to move to campus to their first floor meeting.
