Bennett entryway maintenance begins November 11

Oklahoma State University Facilities Management will begin power washing and performing maintenance on the entryways of Bennett Hall on Monday, November 11. The work is expected to take one week, weather permitting. During the project, only one doorway will be closed at a time, and residents should use alternate entrances.

Fall/Thanksgiving Break Checklist

Student Fall Break (No Classes)

  • Monday, November 25 through Wednesday, November 27

Thanksgiving Break (OSU Holiday. Office closed)

  • Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29.

The halls are open from Saturday, November 23 through Sunday, December 1. You may come and go as needed.


Prepare you space before you leave

Follow these precautions to secure your home and prevent weather-related issues:

  • Unplug appliances/electronics (except refrigerator)
  • Set thermostats to HEAT, AUTO, and between 70-75 degrees (even if it is 80 degrees the day you leave!) 
  • Take trash and recycling to the appropriate dumpster.
  • Clear your floor and breezeways of books, boxes, electronics and personal items
  • Open cabinets under bathroom and kitchen sinks
  • Remove food that will be spoiled from your refrigerator and your room
  • Turn off lights, lower shades and tilt blinds up
  • Lock doors including bedroom and patio/balcony
  • Pick up mail and take all valuables and pets with you

Break Desk Services and Maintenance

  • Visit DESK SERVICES for hours of operation
  • Family Resource Center is closed from Thursday, November 28 through Sunday, December 1.
    • On-call staff is available.
    • University Laundry and the Brumley Laundry will be open during the break.
    • If you need FRC assistance during the break, call 405-564-4028.
  • If you have maintenance issues during office hours, contact the HRL Facilities Office at 405-744-8510.
  • If there is an emergency maintenance issue, contact OSU Facilities Management at 405-744-7154.

 

Home Improvement Week

OSU Housing Registration is closed for updates

The OSU Housing Registration will be closed for updates from Oct. 11 through Dec. 1 until 9:59 a.m.

 

For residents needing to move into housing for Fall 2024, contact the Assignments Team at 405-744-5592 or come into the main office located in 100 Iba Hall.

 

The housing registration for Spring 2025  will reopen on December 1, 2024, at 10 a.m. If you need to move on campus before the Spring 2025 semester, contact the Assignments Team at 405-744-5592 or come into the main office located at 100 Iba Hall.

Introducing Favorite Faculty Award

Housing and Residential Life is thrilled to announce the Favorite Faculty Award. We want to recognize and celebrate the profound impact OSU faculty have on our residents’ lives.

 

We invite students who live in OSU housing to nominate a faculty member who has gone above and beyond and made a difference in their lives. We want to celebrate and acknowledge the positive and lasting impact they have on our residents.

 

We aim to identify the faculty members who best support student development of each of the Ideal Graduate Competencies

 

  • Professional preparedness 
  • Ethical leadership 
  • Engaged citizenship 
  • Personal responsibility 

An award will also be given to the faculty member who has had the greatest impact on our residents this year.  

 

The awards will be presented in person at a reception from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, in the Starlight Terrace (465 Student Union).

 

Everyone who submits a nomination and the faculty member will be invited to attend the awards reception.

Form for requesting a change in room assignments opens

You may now request to change your room assignment and transfer to another room. Look for the "Request to Change Rooms" form in Roompact.com. Requests are processed based on room availability. Room change requests are processed in rounds every two weeks.

 

» Requests may be submitted between 10 a.m. on Sept. 9 and  3 p.m. on Nov. 6.

 


OSU Football Game and Commons Parking Lot 74

Clear parking lot for home games

University Commons residents are asked to move their cars the Friday before the Saturday home football game. All vehicles must relocate from University Commons parking lot 74, by 4 p.m. Friday for the football game this weekend. Please do so to avoid fines and tow. Go to parking.okstate.edu for alternate parking areas. Thank you!

Labor Day is Monday, September 2. This is an official OSU holiday, so all Housing and Residential Life Offices are closed on Monday. The Family Resource Center will be closed on Monday, and the Shopping Shuttle will not run.

OSU Energy Saving

On Independence Day, remember these important steps for energy savings:

  • Turn off all possible electronic equipment, including computers, monitors, speakers, printers, etc.
  • Unplug items such as fans, chargers, radios, and appliances, like coffeemakers.
  • Close blinds and tilt the slats upwards.
  • Remember that temperatures may be warmer than normal as AC may not be scheduled in some areas.
  • As always, turn off lights as you leave.

Be aware of roofing equipment

New gutter is being installed at Bennett Hall as part of an on-going capital improvement plan. Two lifts are being used for access, and personnel will be completing the installation over the next few weeks.  Please avoid areas around the lifts and keep blinds/curtains closed for maximum privacy. Thanks for your patience during this important improvement.

Fire Safety Month

September is Fire Safety Month, and we want you to know what to do in case of an emergency.

 

Be sure to stop by the OSU Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) table outside the Student Union on the following days:

  • Thursday, September 5, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Thursday, September 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Thursday, September 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Thursday, September 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Safety Tips

  • Make sure you can hear the building alarm system from your dorm room.
  • If you live in a dormitory, make sure your sleeping room has a smoke alarm, or your dormitory suite has a smoke alarm in each living area as well as the sleeping rooms.
  • If you live in an apartment or house, make sure smoke alarms are installed in each sleeping room, outside every sleeping area, and on each level.
  • Test all smoke alarms at least monthly.
  • Never remove batteries or disable the alarm.
  • Learn your building's evacuation plan and practice all drills as if they were the real thing.
  • If you live off campus, have a fire escape plan with two ways out of every room
