Late Night: Pajamas Winter Party

Plan to attend Late Night: Pajamas Winter Party on Wednesday, December 6 at the Kerr Drummond Mezzaine. Design and paint your own winter decorations, ugly sweater contest, hot chocolate, smores and mochis. Pajamas required!

Preparing your space for Winter Break
December 1, 2023
Winter Break is Saturday, December 16 through Monday, January 16. The halls are open, and you may come and go as needed.
We know you have earned a break and hope you come back to campus ready to tackle the last of your fall classwork. However, before you leave be sure to follow the checklist below.
Prepare Your Space:
Follow these precautions to secure your home and prevent weather-related issues:
- Set heat to auto between 70° to 75°.
- Open cabinet doors beneath bathroom and kitchen sinks.
- IMPORTANT: Clear floor and breezeway of boxes, electronics and personal items.
- Throw away trash and recycling.
- Remove perishable food items from your space.
- Unplug appliances/electronics except refrigerator.
- Close and lock windows, lower the shades and tilt slats up.
- Lock doors including bedroom and patio/balcony doors.
- Pick up mail and take your valuables with you.
- If you have a pet, you must take it with you.
If you plan to be on campus at any time during the break, let us know.
- You can update the Plan to Stay on Campus form anytime. Your updated information will be shared with campus partners, including OSU Police Department and University Dining Services.
Break Maintenance:
- If you have maintenance-related issues during office hours, contact the Housing and Residential Life Facilities Office at 405-744-8510.
- If something happens after-hours, contact OSU Facilities Management at 405-744-7154.
Winter Break Hours (Dec. 17-Jan. 16)

DESK HOURS
All desks are closed for winter break except for Village A (CASNR) and Griffith Community Center. All desks reopen for regular hours Monday, January 8 at a. m.
Village A (CASNR) is open 24 hours.
- Except for Sunday, December 24 when it closes at 8 p.m. and reopens Tuesday, December 26 at 8 a.m.
Griffith Community Center Hours
- Desk hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily
- Except for Sunday, December 24 when it closes at 8 p.m. and reopens Tuesday, December 26 at 10 a.m.
FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER (FRC) HOURS
Family Resource Center hours are as follows:
- Monday, December 18 through Thursday, December 21 the FRC is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Friday, December 22 through Monday, January 1 the FRC is closed.
On-call staff is available. University Laundry and the Brumley Laundry will be open during winter break. If you need FRC assistance during the break, call 405.564.4028.
HOUSING AND RESIDENTIAL LIFE OFFICES
All offices will follow OSU's hours of operation. Offices will be closed Wednesday, December 22 through Monday, January 1. Regular hours resume Tuesday, January 2.
MAINTENANCE ASSISTANCE

Housing Registration Season Underway

OSU Housing and Residential Life is rolling out the welcome mat for students to register housing for the 2024-2025 academic year.
“Registration season is an exciting time for all of us in housing,” said Dr. Leon McClinton, Jr., director of housing and residential life. “Every year, we look at the OSU Housing Portal to see if we can streamline the process and make sure it’s easy to use.” The OSU Housing Portal is where OSU students, in addition to selecting their rooms, they can sign their lease, purchase meal plans, find roommates and much more.
Spring 24 housing registration opens Dec. 1

Do you want to live on campus this spring? Registration begins Friday Dec. 1, at 10 a.m. Log in to the OSU Housing Portal to register.

Lock down your room. Register for guaranteed housing for 2024-2025

Now is the time! Current residents should make plans to renew their on-campus lease for the 2024-2025 academic year. The OSU Housing Portal opens for current residents to register and select rooms on beginning Tuesday, January 16 at 10 a.m. and closing Tuesday, January 30 at 11:59 p.m.
WEEK 1 (Jan. 16-21): To keep your current room, register for housing and select your room between Tuesday, January 16 and Sunday, January 21. Exception are residents who live in first-year only halls (Peterson-Friend, Bost and Davis). You will need to select another hall for the next academic year.
WEEK 2 (Jan. 22-30): Current residents may register and select rooms.
Apply for ResLife Scholarships

The Department of Housing and Residential Life is excited to offer 14 scholarships as part of the Leader-Scholar Scholarship Program. Last year, ResLife offered more than $68,000 in awards. The scholarships are available for students who are currently living on campus within Housing and Residential Life. Student staff members are eligible to apply for these scholarships. This program is part of the Division of Student Affairs Scholarship Program.

Hours for Fall Break
November 15, 2023
DESK HOURS

Village A (CASNR) is open 24 hours per day from Sunday, November 19 through Sunday, November 26.
Griffith Community Center is open from 8 a.m. to midnight from Sunday, November 19 through Saturday, November 25.

Facilities Management (FM) is repainting Lot 105 SW and Lot 203 between N-103 and N-104. Please move your vehicles from the lots on Tuesday, Nov. 21 and Wednesday, Nov. 22.

Let's end 'tailgating': Keep unauthorized people out halls

Let's end 'tailgating'—no, not that kind of tailgating! Tailgating, also called piggybacking, is a when an unauthorized person follows an authorized individual into a building. This is a type of physical security breach that endangers residents.
For your safety, help us keep unauthorized people out of the residential halls.
- Use a swipe card for entrance.
- Don't hold doors open or open doors for others to enter.
- Make sure doors close after entering.
- Don't prop doors open.

Plan to attend Late Night: Picnic in the Dark on Thursday, October 19 on University Commons Lawn. We'll provide picnic food/beverages and a surprise; you'll bring a blanket and basket. Food starts at 8:30 p.m. and a surprise at 9 p.m.

Become a CM/Ambassador for Fall 2024
Enroll in HESA 2191

The first step to becoming a community mentor (CM) or ambassador is to enroll in HESA 2191. This is a one-credit, eight-week short hybrid course offered during Spring 2024 examines leadership and builds personal competencies.
Students who are interested in a position for Fall 2024 must complete the course; however, all students and majors are welcome to take the course.
Room Transfer Requests continue through Nov. 2

Construction of Central Market Place underway
May 31, 2023
Construction is underway for University Dining Services' new Central Market Place, which is projected to open Fall 2024. It's located in the parking area just southwest of the Kerr-Drummond towers and east of Village E. The construction mostly affects Villages A-F, Wentz and Patchin-Jones.
