Allen Hall Water Line Update

Posted November 4, 2025

  •  Absolute Restoration has been on-site in Allen Hall every day since the flood occurred on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
    • Please avoid construction areas on the affected hallways on floors one, two and three.
    • Completed 97% of the remediation including removing carpet, baseboards, vanities, etc.
    • Carpet has been removed from the affected hallways.
    • The majority of the equipment has been removed as the drying has been successful. Stabilization air scrubbers will be left in the hallways until the build-back construction crew begins their work.

A timeline for resident return has not been established, but the goal is to return residents to their spaces as soon as possible after  rebuilding the affected areas.

++++

Posted October 24, 2025

After 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, a hot-water line failure in Allen Hall caused flooding in parts of the building. The issue occurred shortly after a planned water outage and repair earlier in the day.

Facilities Management repaired the line Thursday evening and restored water service to the Zink-Allen complex. Additional repairs to the water line were being made on Friday. Residents were notified Friday morning of a scheduled water outage to allow FM crews to work on the lines. A professional remediation team is on-site working to remove water and dry affected areas as quickly as possible.

University Housing and Residential Life staff are actively supporting residents and have temporarily relocated around 70 Allen Hall residents. The university understands how disruptive this situation is for the affected students and is committed to ensuring everyone has a safe and comfortable place to stay while repairs continue.

Housing and Residential Life will continue to provide updates as repairs and restoration work progress.
