Register for housing gives you the opportunity to stay connected to the people, places and experiences that make living on campus part of your OSU experience.
Current residents can renew their housing for 2027-28 through the OSU Housing Portal.

Living on campus makes it easy to stay connected to campus, your community and the resources that support your success.
- Stay connected. Continue living near the people, places and campus experiences that are part of your OSU life.
- Choose your next home. Explore available residence hall and apartment neighborhood options for the upcoming academic year.
- Keep it simple. Your housing, utilities and Wi-Fi are included in your housing costs, so you can focus on your OSU experience.
- Stay close to campus. Live within walking distance of classes, dining, recreation and other campus resources.
Lease options
Housing options for 2027-28 include:
- 10-month lease: Aug. 1 through May 31
- 12-month lease: July 1 through June 30
Note: The dates and details listed below may change. Unless otherwise specified, all activities close at 5 p.m. All times listed are in Central Standard Time (CST).
Housing Renewal Timeline

(Nov. 17, 2026, at 10 a.m.) Housing renewal registration opens
Complete your housing registration through the OSU Housing Portal.

(Dec. 15, 2026, at 5 p.m.) Housing renewal registration closes
- After Dec. 15, residents renewing their lease cannot create or change roommate groups or change housing preferences.
- Complete your housing registration by this deadline to be considered for an initial housing assignment.

(Week of Jan. 25, 2027) Housing assignments begin
- Housing assignments will be made based on completed housing registration, housing availability and paid housing deposits. You'll receive an email when your assignment is available.
- If you aren't assigned a space during the initial assignment process, your housing registration will be placed on a standby list. If space becomes available, Housing will assign you a space and notify you by email.

(May 1, 2027) Housing deposit refund deadline
Your $300 housing deposit is refundable if you:
- Cancel before May 1.
- Complete six months of occupancy.
- Graduate in the fall.

(After May 2, 2027) Housing deposit becomes nonrefundable
Your $300 housing deposit is nonrefundable if you cancel after May 2.

(June 1, 2027, at 5 p.m.) Enrollment deadline
You must be enrolled by this deadline to keep your housing assignment and registration.

(June 1, 2027, at 10 a.m.) Room swaps and waitlists open
If you have a housing assignment, you can request a room swap or join a waitlist through the OSU Housing Portal.
- Room Swap – Students are swapping assignments with each other in the housing portal.
- Waitlist – Students that want the Occupancy Team to change their room assignment over
the summer can join the waitlist process through the housing portal.

(June 2-July 31, 2027) $1,000 cancellation fee
A $1,000 cancellation fee applies if you cancel during this period. Cancellation fees apply only to students who are enrolled at the time of cancellation.

(June 30, 2027, at 5 p.m.) Room swaps and waitlists close
Housing will continue processing requests submitted before the closing time.

(Aug. 1 through the fall restrictive add/drop date) $1,500 cancellation fee
A $1,500 cancellation fee applies if you cancel during this period, plus rent if you have checked in.

(After the fall restrictive add/drop date) $750 lease break fee
If you break your lease after the fall restrictive add/drop date, a $750 fee applies, plus the remaining rent for the semester.
