What's new for 2025-2026

  • Priority Deadlines
    • Priority consideration deadline for Living Learning Programs application by Saturday, February 1
    • Tuesday, April 1 is the priority deadline for new residents to have their roommate pairs created and housing preferences ranked.
    • After the priority deadline of April 1, students will not be able to come back to change their ranked housing preferences.
    • Roommate pairs created after the priority deadline of April 1 will be subject to limited availability and are less likely to be placed together.
  • Housing Preferences (Housing Styles and Room Type Codes)
During your housing registration, you'll be asked to rank housing preferences.
    • Housing styles refer to halls that are traditionalsuitesdeluxe suites or apartments.
    • Room type codes refer to the type of floor plan and can be found for each hall in the Hall Finder. For example, the code 2B/1B means two bedrooms and one bathroom. The room type code for the traditional housing style is also called traditional.
  • Freshman Residency Requirement
    • While the Freshman Residency Requirement is not new, the deadline for requests and the exemption requirements and documentation have been adjusted for 2025-2026.
    • The exemption request (form) opens on Sunday, December 1 and closes Wednesday, September 3
  • How to Cancel Housing Registration
    • If you need to cancel your 2025-2026 OSU admissions application, you must contact the Undergraduate Admissions Office at admissions@okstate.edu or 405-744-5358. Housing will cancel your housing automatically once your application is canceled.
    • If you plan to attend OSU for 2025-2026 as a new, incoming freshman, you are required to live in university housing unless you are granted a housing exemption. To learn more about the Freshman Residency Requirement and to start the process, submit the Housing Exemption Request (form) by Wednesday, September 3.
  • Housing Registration for Learning Learning Programs
  • Auto-allocation
    • This year, room assignments will be auto-allocated with assignment emails going out the week of April 21.
    • Assignment will prioritize the roommate pairs first, and then housing preferences.
  • Ready-To-Be-Assigned List
    • If you are not assigned a room the week of April 21, your housing registration will be on the ready-to-be-assigned list.
    • When a space becomes available, you will be assigned and notified of an assignment by Friday, August 1.
  • Room assignments after the week of April 21
    • Unassigned registrations will be pulled from the ready-to-be-assigned list every two weeks and assigned rooms.
  • Room Swap and Waitlist Functions
June 1 to Aug. 1, students with room assignments (who would like different rooms) can log into the OSU Housing Portal to create a room-swap request or join a waitlist.
    • Room swap is handled completely by two residents to swap rooms.
    • Waitlist allows students to put their name on a waitlist for their desired housing style. This process is handled by the Occupancy Team.
    • To learn more about room swap and waitlist options, visit the Step-by-Step Instructions.
